FTC Regulates Blogging

WASHINGTON (AP) - october 6, 2009 And it is now taking steps to make sure the you get a clearer picture about who says what about products that are reviewed in cyberspace. The FTC will require that writers on the Web clearly state whether they are getting freebies or payments from companies for reviewing their products.

The panel also says advertisers that feature testimonials that claim dramatic results have to back up those statements - and can't just hide behind disclaimers that the results aren't typical. The rules take effect December 1 - and violators could get sanctions, including a lawsuit.
