21-year-old Selene Raynor was found slumped over the wheel of her mother's Jeep last Thursday on North Newkirk Street in North Philadelphia. She'd been shot in the face and left there the night before. Investigators say she was 8-weeks pregnant. Detectives don't know if the pregnancy had anything to do with her killing.
They say she was sitting in a car talking to her boyfriend 19-year-old Tyrell Hart when he pulled a gun and shot her.
Investigators say Raynor picked Hart up from his house on Clifford Street Wednesday night before driving a 1/2 mile to Newkirk Street to talk.
"They're talking and he pulls out a gun and shoots her. She has no chance to run, to fight, to do anything," Captain James Clark of the Philadelphia Police said.
Selene's fellow West Chester students can't imagine why someone would want to harm the smart and kind chemistry major who always helped and encouraged people.
She had been a resident assistant, a member of the black student union, student activities and a gospel choir.
"It's very sad. From all accounts she was a nice young lady. It seems she got hooked up with the wrong guy. And as a result of that, her demise came," Clark said.
Police are testing and tracing the gun they found that they think is the murder weapon.
