Man arrested after string of car break-ins

NEW CASTLE, Del. - October 21, 2009

Nineteen vehicles were broken into, mostly located in the Old New Castle area. The robberies have occurred over the past two weeks in various areas of New Castle. Taken were items such as GPS systems and money amongst other things.

Police were called around 10:00 Tuesday morning from a concerned citizen who spotted a suspicious man looking inside of vehicles in the South Street area. Police responded to the area and apprehended the subject, identified as Jeremiah Robertson, without incident.

Police have since recovered numerous GPS systems, a laptop and cell phones belonging to different victims of the thefts.

Robertson, 21, of the unit block of E. 4th Street was charged with 19 counts each of theft and was released on $12,750.00 unsecured bond pending a court hearing.

Police will be contacting victims of the thefts in an attempt to return stolen property.
