Bomb threat fueled by hospital wait

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - October 21, 2009

Police initially said 52-year-old John Herrick, of Erie, was upset because his grandmother waited for treatment at Saint Vincent Health Center in August. At Herrick's guilty plea on Monday, police said Herrick was upset because his girlfriend waited for treatment.

Police said Herrick made the call from his cell phone after 11 p.m. Aug. 17, claiming there was a bomb near a hospital exit. Police found nothing.

Police used information from cell phone towers to locate Herrick who pleaded guilty to a charge of terroristic threats.

Herrick remains jailed and faces up to seven years in prison when he's sentenced Dec. 1.
