Swine flu 'red zone' created at CHOP

PHILADELPHIA - October 21, 2009 The hospital has made a "red zone" declaration to shift additional staffers to the overburdened emergency department.

In addition to sick children, the E-R has also had many so-called "worried well" - those with cases that could be handled by a family doctor.

As of Wednesday, anyone coming to the E-R with an flu-like illnesses will have to wear a face mask while waiting.

Visitors, guardians, and patients will have to stay in patient rooms.

The hospital is also asking parents to call their doctor first before bringing children to the hospital.
