It all started about 2:30 A.M., when police say the suspect held up a 7-11 store on Oxford Avenue near Summerdale Avenue.
After the robbery, police say the suspect jumped into a pickup truck.
Officers followed the truck.
The chase ended abruptly when the pickup crashed along the 1000 block of Benner Street.
Investigators say the suspect got out of the truck and made a run for it.
That's when officers opened fire, wounding the suspect in the leg.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he is expected to recover.
