Dean, Rove to debate health care at PSU

Democrat Howard Dean and Republican Karl Rove traded arguments and one-liners in a lively debate over health care reform between two opinionated political insiders.

The ex-Democratic National Committee chairman and former deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush hammered each other with familiar retorts in the fractured health care fight.

Student organizers who brought the political heavyweights to Penn State on Tuesday night sought a civil discussion.

The hour-plus event turned into entertaining political theater, with a few interruptions from a mainly young crowd that leaned slightly anti-Rove.

Dean said Americans should have the option to have affordable health care. Rove countered Democratic-backed proposals had staggering price tags.
