Police: Man stole ID of sick grandfather

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. - October 29, 2009

Arthur James, IV, 34, of the first block of Battle Drive, was arrested and is facing a number of charges.

It was back in September when, police say, someone came into the Newark PD to say credit cards had been opened in the name of a family member who was hospitalized with dementia-related problems.

After an investigation, police say James used his grandfather's identity to obtain two credit cards and made more than $8,200 in purchases.

All of the items bought, including a flat screen TV and computer, were recovered.

James was released on $22,000 unsecured bail.
