Police seek identity of Phila. shooting victim

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - October 30, 2009

Police were called out to the area of 7th and Tasker Streets shortly before midnight.

Once there, officers found an unknown man in the street bleeding from the head. The man was taken to Jefferson Hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Police say they believe the male is Asian and about 25 years of age, though they have not been able to identify him as yet.

The motive for the shooting is unclear. Investigators say several men were seen fleeing the scene on bikes with what are believed to be pipes and handguns.
