British singer Leona Lewis performs in hometown

LONDON (AP) - November 3, 2009

Fans gave her rave reviews for the performance at the Hackney Empire, a theater where she had first performed as an amateur when she was just 13.

Her performance Monday night marked a successful return to the public eye three weeks after she was punched by a distraught fan at a London book signing.

She performed her signature hit "Bleeding Love," which topped the charts in Britain and America, and also showcased numbers from her upcoming second album "Echo."

Lewis shot to fame in 2006 after winning British talent show "X Factor."
