Purses targeted in movie theater thefts

CHADDS FORD, Pa. - November 6, 2009

Investigators are looking into nearly 20 incidents in Delaware County in which women have had cash and credit cards removed from purses while they are in a theater.

In most cases, police say the women put the purses by their feet. A thief would then reach under the seat and steal from the purse.

The purses are then put back and, in many incidents, the thieves would immediately make purchases, usually while the victim was still in the theater.

A photo of a suspects have been released, and anyone able to identify them can contact Tpr. Gerard McShea at 484-840-1000.

Police advise women to zipper up their purses and place them between their feet or, better yet, put them on your lap.
