Police: Shooting suspects flee in Wilmington

WILMINGTON - November 6, 2009

The shooting happened in the 200 block of South Jackson Street shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday.

Police were responding to a report of a shooting when they found a man in his 20s lying on the street with a bullet wound to his chest.

Medics rushed the man to Christiana Medical Center for treatment.

Police at the scene say the man was shot after he confronted a group of other men about leaning on a pickup truck.

One man in the group opened fire and then the group fled.

Police scoured the area, but were not able to locate the group.
