Black Friday Playbook 2009

November 25, 2009

Action News and 6abc.com have your 2009 Black Friday Playbook so you can strategize your gameplan on how to get what you want at the best prices.

Black Friday madness will begin as soon as Thanksgiving Day ends.

Franklin Mills Mall and Philadelphia Premium Outlets, as well as Wal-Mart stores, will open at the stroke of midnight.

Most other area malls will open at 8:00 a.m.

The savings this year on Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be incredible.

"I think we'll see discounts come out earlier so I think Black Friday is very crucial this year and I think a lot of people need to be ready to buy," Kevin Strawbridge of DealTaker.com.

Most retailers have bought less inventory for this holiday season and once they run out, they'll stiop further marking down merchandise.

"We're telling people to buy early and save early," Strawbridge said.

So if you do heed that warning, here are some of the items you will find.

A Sony Cybershot 10.1 megapixel digital camera for $79 at Wal-Mart.

50 to 70-percent off most clothing at Aeropostale!

And for $1,000 on SonyStyle.com, you can buy a 46-inch Sony Bravia 1080p HDTV and a FREE PS3 or Blu-ray player plus free shipping.

"The thing that we find is organization is key, so if there are items that you know that you specifically want, start making a list of those things and do it early," Strawbridge said.

Also plot out where you'll need to go.

King of Prussia Mall has an online Trip Planner so you can map out your shopping route, know about specials on the way, and even figure out where to park.

Don't forget to search for coupons and promotion codes in advance, too.

"Most people continue to check out without one, wishing they had it. Well, if you're skipping over that box, you're missing out on savings," Andrea Woroch of Promotionalcodes.com said.

You can find all the codes in one place on websites like Promotionalcodes, CouponWinner, and DealTaker.

"1-800-Flowers, 15% off orders and Reebok is doing 30-percent off this Friday and 40-percent off on Monday," Woroch said.

David Jay Jewelers is giving away $100 rings for free to the first 100 customers who walk into the store on Black Friday.

Can't beat that!

So what are you waiting for? Get in a huddle, set up your plays, and tackle some deals!
