The man was reported missing Monday evening by family members who said he did not return home when scheduled.
Witnesses say the hunter, identified as 49-year-old Kenneth Hoagland of the 6100 block of Upper York Road in New Hope, had shot a deer earlier in the afternoon and said he was going back to try to get another. He was not seen after that.
A large search was called around 9:00 into the wooded area along the 6100 block of York Road in Solebury Township, Bucks County.
K-9 dogs from as far away as Hunterdon County were called in to assist in the search.
Hoagland's body was eventually found about 200 yards into the woods from the road before midnight.
Police say they are awaiting word on the coroner's report to determine the cause of death.
