From the Newport Police Department:
Yasmin Mendiola, a 15 year old Hispanic female, described as 5'0" tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes was reported missing on today's date. Yasmin was last seen at 6:00 a.m. on November 30th when she was supposed to be leaving for school. Yasmin did not go to school on this date.
On December 1, 2009 at 10:24 AM her mother called to report that Yasmin had not returned home. Yasmin's mother received a phone call at approx. 1:00 PM from a blocked phone number and a male stated "You will never see your daughter again, we are taking her to Toronto (Canada)."
The anonymous caller also mentioned the City of Wilmington and the name Zavlos. Details behind the name Zavlos are unknown at this point. Wilmington Police Detectives were notified and flyers are to be distributed to patrol units and the Latin American Community Centers. Yasmin was also put into Criminal Justice databases as a missing person. Yasmin has her lip pierced and her clothing description is unknown.
