20 Camden police cars cited for inspection failure

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - December 2, 2009

The state Labor and Workforce Development Department says that if the cars aren't fixed by Jan. 28, the city will receive fines of $350 per day per car.

The cars, mostly Ford Crown Victoria cruisers, had expired inspection stickers, stickers showing failed tests, or no stickers at all.

City Business Administration Christine Tucker says the vehicles were found by a state inspector in a police lot and were part of the "reserve fleet" and were not assigned to operational police units.

Tucker says all police vehicles will be inspected, and those that fail will be scrapped.
