Storm could batter NJ shore

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - December 2, 2009

The National Weather Service says a storm to the south will interact with high pressure offshore and cause gale force winds.

A wind advisory is in effect from midnight until 6 a.m. Thursday. Forecasters say south to southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph could pack gusts up to 45 mph.

A high surf and coastal flood advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say gale force winds will drive the surf toward beaches and could pose a threat to beaches damaged during the Veterans Day storm.

Forecasters say the incoming wind, waves and tide will occur leading up to high tide between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
