Del. woman charged with 5th DUI

DELAWARE CITY, Del. - December 3, 2009

Bryn Davis, 31, of the 100 block of Clinton Street in Delaware City was stopped around 2:35 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers had gotten a call about a blue pickup truck parked on the side of the road in the area of Church Road and Meridian Boulevard. The truck was idling with its headlights on.

When an officer arrived, the truck was travelling on Church Road toward Route 71.

Police say Davis, who was driving the truck, made several turns and parked in the driveway of a stranger's home in the Emerald Ridge community.

An officer approached the car, and said he detected a strong odor of alcohol on Davis' breath and saw a six pack of beer on the passenger seat.

Police say Davis failed a series of sobriety tests and was arrested. That's when they learned of her four previous DUI arrests.

Besides DUI, Davis was also charged for driving with a suspended license, failure to reinstate her license, and having no proof of insurance.

Davis has been arraigned and committed to the Women's Correctional Facility.

She was also ordered not to drive any type of motor vehicle.
