The fire broke out on the 3600 block of Almond Street at around 6:28 p.m. in a two story dwelling.
Arriving fire crews reported seeing heavy smoke. There was a report of people trapped.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and found a woman, believed to be in her mid to late 60's, suffering from significant levels of smoke inhalation.
She was rushed to Temple University Hospital for treatment.
There is no word on a cause for the fire.
