According to police, around 7:30 p.m. Friday along the 5300 block of Morse Street, they encountered a 22-year-old man that was armed with a gun.
During an altercation, the man allegedly pulled his gun and pointed it at police.
An officer fired three times, striking the man all three times. The man was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is in critical, but stable condition.
The officer, as customary, was taken to Internal Affairs to be interviewed.
