It happened at the Citizens Bank at 4221 Ferne Blvd. at 1:53 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say the suspect walked up to teller and presented a demand note with a white plastic bag.
As the teller was getting the money, the man demanded the large bills, which he claimed were kept in another drawer.
According to investigators, the teller was able to place a dye pack in the bag with the rest of the money.
The suspect got away with $5,385.
He is described as a black male 5'10", thin build, with a mustache and a thin goatee wearing a dark baseball hat with a white emblem, navy blue sweatshirt with "ROCAWEAR" in red, and dark jeans.
