It began around 6:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Newton Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames pouring from the home.
A second alarm was called when the fire began to spread to a nearby auto body shop.
There is no word yet on any injuries or what sparked the blaze.
