DNA, gag $1 million bill link man to murder

UNION CITY, Pa. (AP) - December 18, 2009

Police say 46-year-old Donald Howard, of Union City, killed 79-year-old Raymond Goodwill Jr. at a robbery in his home in July.

Police say Howard wanted drug money, and killed the elderly man with a single blow to the head before grabbing his wallet.

Police say they know Howard went for Goodwill's wallet, discarded at the scene, because tests recently confirmed Howard's DNA was on it. Police also learned Howard tried to pass the $1 million bill to a drug dealer. Goodwill's family says he always carried a gag bill in his wallet.

Howard is jailed without bond. Online court records don't list an attorney for him.
