Snowstorm threat sends shoppers to stores

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - December 18, 2009

The Saturday before Christmas is typically the biggest shopping day of the year. But with all that snow in the forecast, the shoppers flocked to the stores on Friday.

"I'm afraid, with the snow, today is the best day to get in here. Today and tonight," said Jeanne Pileggi of Malvern, Pa.

At the King of Prussia Mall, it seemed everyone had the same idea.

Some even took the day off from work to get their last minute shopping done before the snow falls.

"I definitely am not coming out tomorrow night. Absolutely not," said Nicole Savianos of Collegeville, Pa. She was done her shopping by mid-afternoon.

The parking lot has been jammed all day, as the stores saw higher than normal traffic.

"I think once they see the snowfall, if it's coming, they'll hurry in tonight," said Courtney Meyers, manager of Lilly Pulitzer.

Mall management says don't worry about Saturday, even if it is snowing hard.

"We have plenty of snow removal equipment, and we plan on opening at our normal time tomorrow, at 8:00 a.m. and staying open until 11:00 p.m.," said spokesman Tyler Shaffer.
