FBI seeks serial bank robber in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - December 29, 2009

The most recent happened just before 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Beneficial Bank branch at 1600 Chestnut Street. Investigators say the man threatened the teller and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the bank on foot. No one was hurt.

This same man is believed to be responsible for the robberies of the Sovereign Bank at 1500 Market Street on Monday, 12/21/2009 and Wednesday, 12/23/2009. Both of those robberies involved verbal threats and demands.

The subject is described as a black male in his late 40's to 50's, 5'10 to 6'0 tall, medium build, with a few days of beard growth, and salt and pepper hair. During Monday's robbery, the subject was wearing a large camel-colored jacket with a hood, possibly Dickies brand, tan work boots, and was carrying a large dark-colored shoulder bag.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department. There may be a reward for information leading to the identification and apprehension of this subject. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
