Driver charged in crash that killed teen girls

UPPER POTTSGROVE, Pa. - December 30, 2009

Thomas Kocon, 18, is charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless endangerment, careless driving and other offenses.

The crash back on December 12th in Upper Pottsgrove, Pa. killed Pottstown Senior High sophomores Breanne Brothers and Andrea Antonio-Harris. .

It happened around 11:45 p.m. The District Attorney's office says at the time of the crash, Kocon was driving approximately 20 miles over the speed limit, and had taken his hands off the wheel, holding them up in the air.

The investigation also revealed that, prior to the crash, Kocon refused to put down the last row of seats in the vehicle, making it impossible for all four rear seat passengers to be able to wear seat belts.

A total of six people were in the SUV.

Kocon's bail has been set at $50,000. The judge also ordered Kocon to surrender his driver's license and not to have any contact with the victims or their families as a condition of bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 8, 2010.
