A Delaware man has been arrested and charged with intentionally starting a fire that heavily damaged an apartment building.

Youness Ouarrhi, 25, a resident of the Harbor Club Apartments at 44 Cheswold Blvd. in Christiana, has been charged with attempted murder and arson.

The Friday morning fire at that apartment building forced 15 people out of their homes.

Police say Ouarrhi was living with his wife and two other occupants when he started the fire in his apartment.

Everyone escaped the blaze when a smoke detector activated and alerted them to the fire.

Investigators have not said why they believe Ouarrhi started the fire.

Ouarrhi was sent to prison on $160,000 secured bond.
