LONDON (AP) - The BBC reports that the Glazer family which owns Manchester United is $1.6 billion in debt, putting the Americans' control of the club in doubt. The BBC says its investigation found the Glazer family's debts are $577 million greater than previously known. That extra debt comes after the Glazers borrowing extensively against their shopping mall business in the United States.

The findings were broadcast Monday night.

The extent of the debt could fuel a further revolt by the group of United fans who oppose the Glazers' ownership.

The Glazers, who own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, bought United in 2005 for $1.4 billion.
