The driver who struck and killed a New Jersey State Trooper last month won't be charged criminally, but did receive two traffic summonses.

Twenty-year-old Robert Swan of Jackson struck and killed Trooper Marc Castellano on June 6 on Route 195 in Howell.

He was cited for speeding and careless driving.

State Police Capt. Gerald Lewis says a review determined no criminal charges were appropriate in the case.

The trooper had been participating in a search for an armed man authorities were told was in the area but whom investigators later discovered did not exist.

Diana Hoffman of Gloucester Township was charged with eluding police, drug and other charges after telling police a man escaped from her vehicle into the woods.
