Russell Swartz was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly punching and placing his 48-year-old girlfriend in a choke hold while in her vehicle in the store's parking area.
He is also accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend and threatening a witness who tried to assist the victim.
The witness was not injured and the girlfriend did not require medical treatment.
Swartz is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $2,000 bond and has been charged with strangulation, assault and terroristic threatening, according to police.
