Deliberations to resume in Philly police slaying

PHILADELPHIA - July 27, 2010

The jury began its deliberations Monday in the trial of 35-year-old Eric Floyd and 41-year-old Levon Warner.

They could face the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder in the May 2008 shooting death of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski following a bank robbery.

The trial started late last month and lasted four weeks.

Floyd and Warner were allegedly in the getaway car when authorities say a third suspect, Howard Cain, got out and shot the pursuing Liczbinski. Cain later died in a shootout with police.

Attorneys for Warner and Floyd say their clients had no intention of killing the officer.
