Taquen G. Owens, 16, is charged with attempted murder in the first degree.
The incident happened on June 25th in the 100 block of Unity Lane in Greenwood.
Police say Owens and his father got into an argument outside the family's home over a dispute involving Owens' girlfriend. After the argument, Owens left.
However, police say, Owens returned a short time later and got into another argument with his father.
During that argument, police say, Owens pulled out a handgun and shot his father several times, hitting him in the head and stomach.
He was finally arrested on Thursday morning.
Owens was sent to prison on $31,000 secured bond.
His father has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover.
