Mrs. Fixit:Summertime Tips

August 21, 2010

Corn on the cob is a great summertime treat but getting all of those little silky hairs off of the corn can be tough.

Well, grab a new toothbrush and it will brush those little hairs away easily.

Some under ripe tomatoes got you down? No problem, wrap each of them in newspaper and set them on the counter overnight. They'll be ripe by morning!

Newspaper can help you clean your grill too. When you've finished grilling, turn the grill off and then soak several layers of newspaper in water. Lay the paper on the grill and let it sit for a half an hour or so. The moisture and the paper will work together to steam clean the grill. Simply remove the paper after a half and hour and you'll be able to wipe it clean.

If you got a little too much sun at your barbeque, mix together a couple of cups of water and a couple of tablespoons of baking soda.

Soak a washcloth in the solution, wring it out and lay it over the affected skin. It will soothe the burn and speed up healing.

You can also use that baking soda to keep your cooler clean and fresh.

Simply sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of baking soda in your clean, dry cooler before you put it away. I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
