The accident happened around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound lanes of Route 13, at the Route 40 split, in New Castle, Delaware.
Joseph V. Cannan, 42, National Park, VA, was operating a tractor-trailer southbound on Route 13 when his vehicle struck the rear of another tractor-trailer. The second rig then collided with a 2007 Honda Civic.
Cannan's tractor-trailer overturned into the parking lot of a former Exxon Gas Station.
Cannan was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released for a laceration to his arm.
Rt. 13 southbound was closed for approximately 2 hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
