The crash happened at approximately 11:56 Wednesday evening along Route 13 in North St. Georges.
The driver, identified as Albert L. Freeman, 69, of Dover, was traveling on the ramp from Route 13 southbound to the Kirkwood-St. Georges Road. That's when investigators say his 2004 GMC Sierra crossed the center line and left the east edge of the roadway, continuing in the grass until it struck a concrete bridge column. Freeman was trapped inside the pickup truck for a half an hour before being pronounced dead at the scene.
Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
