Authorities began receiving numerous 911 calls around 2:30 a.m. reporting a home on fire in the 1300 block of North 13th Street near Girard Avenue.
Arriving firefighters found the 3-story home fully involved in flames on all three floors and quickly went to work battling the blaze which also caused some damage to an adjoining home.
Firefighters were able to get the upper hand on the blaze and placed it under control at 3:00 a.m. but remained on the scene for several hours.
Three occupants were left homeless and the Red Cross was on location assisting the residents.
The blaze remains under investigation by the Philadelphia Fire Marshals Office.
