Hurricane Earl: Worst hits us tonight

Forecasters said high surf is expected Friday with minor to moderate beach erosion and a high risk of rip currents. A local surf website, however, was telling readers to "hope for ridable waves this afternoon."

Woody Marderwald, a 57-year-old surfer, was riding his bike along the beach path in Rehoboth Beach on Friday morning. He said he hoped to be out in the waves later, but for now he had brought inside his surfboards.
