New multiple sclerosis to be tested in Phila.

The last stage of clinical trials are starting soon to test a drug that will help treat multiple sclerosis before an official diagnosis is made.

Many patients can have early symptoms, but no clinical signs of the disease.

Most doctors do not want to give patients aggressive drugs without an official clinical diagnosis. So now researchers are testing a weaker oral medication called Teriflunomide to see if it can be used to help and slow the disease.

They will be enrolling patients into the study in Philadelphia, but have not started yet.
