The shooting occurred along the 6000 block of Callowhill Street at around 9:25 p.m.
Police were called to the rear of a home for the report of shots fired.
Arriving officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Medics rushed the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.
Police say the suspected shooter fled the scene.
