CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. - September 12, 2010

On Sunday September 12, 2010, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Middle Township Police received numerous calls of a motor vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles, on Route 47.

According to police, a Mercedes was stopped in the southbound lane waiting to make a left turn onto Bucks Avenue.

At the time, a Mercury Sable driven by 63-year-old Anne Dougherty of Emmitsburg, Maryland, also going southbound, did not stop for the first vehicle, and struck the rear-end, pushing both vehicles into the northbound lane.

The cars then struck a motorcycle that was traveling in the northbound lane.

The motorcyclist, 25-year-old Andrew Doak of Gibbstown, New Jersey, died at the scene, as a result of his injuries.

After Doughtery's vehicle collided with Doak's motorcycle, the Sable crashed into a Jeep Cherokee driven by 25-year-old Domenic Hall.

Doughtery, Hall, and Christopher Bruni, the driver of the Mercedes, were all transported to area hospitals.

Parts of Route 47 were closed due to the crash and investigation.
