The horrific, grinding crash happened on I-676 at 11th Street just as the Monday morning commute was picking up.
It was 6:45 a.m. when a 18-wheeler slammed into the back of a black BMW sedan. The vehicles careened into a silver sedan and a white pickup truck - sending the pickup into the air and on top of the BMW.
The wreckage slid along the highway taking out and damaging other cars along the way before it all erupted in flames.
Miraculously, no one was injured.
Center City resident Robert Collins told Action News, "I was saying by God's grace that nobody got hurt. That's really a blessing that we don't come here and see a whole bunch of casualties and people dead."
Police shut down both sides of the Vine Street Expressway, the major artery through Center City, and quickly traffic backed up in all directions.
Some were forced to sit and wait on the ramp from I-95 south to the Vine as crews worked to clean away the wreckage. It was a morning of detours and long delays making many motorists quite late getting wherever they were going.
The wreckage was finally cleared at approximately 9:35 a.m. and all lanes of traffic are now getting by the scene.
