The News Journal reports the students in the 2009-2010 school year averaged a 493 score for reading, 495 in math and 481 in writing. Officials say the scores reflect a 1.2 percent increase from the year before.
But these scores are below the national averages of 501 for reading, 516 for math and 492 for writing. The scores were released Monday.
The college entrance examination is administered by the Washington-based nonprofit organization The College Board.
