Man found murdered in motel parking lot

BEAR, Del. - September 18, 2010

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday as troopers were called to the West Motel located in the 700 block of Pulaski Highway, Bear.

Upon their arrival, troopers located the victim, William L. Forrester, 46, of Newark, Delaware lying in the parking lot of the motel bleeding from multiple stab wounds.

Forrester was transported from the motel by EMS to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His body was then turned over to the State Medical Examiner's Office who determined the death to be a homicide.

After further investigation by homicide detectives it was learned that Forrester had been involved in a physical confrontation with Eric A. Ramirez, 25, of Newark at the motel.

At some point during the altercation, Ramirez produced a knife and stabbed Forrester.

Ramirez then fled the scene in a dark colored 4-door 2003 Honda Accord with Delaware registration 516875.

As detectives were actively searching for Ramirez, they received information that he was willing to turn himself in.

At 7:00 p.m., Eric Ramirez turned himself in to detectives in Newark.

He was arrested and charged with one count each of Murder 1st degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony. Ramirez was arraigned and is being held without bail at the Howard Young Correctional Facility.

Homicide detectives are still searching for the Honda Accord that Ramirez fled from the motel in.
