Igor still poses rip current threat to NJ

TRENTON, N.J. - September 21, 2010

Forecasters say a high risk of rip currents remains through the morning.

Forecasters say long-period swells will slowly decrease, leading to a moderate risk for rip currents in the afternoon and evening.

Rip currents are narrow channels of water that flow out to sea.

Swimmers caught in the currents should remain calm and swim parallel to the shore until they are free of the current's grip.
