Police: Serial bank robber arrested in Del.

NEWARK, Del. - September 24, 2010

Scott Ginegaw, 37, of Travertine Way in Newark, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with the robberies at six banks.

The spree came to an end shortly after the latest crime, investigators said.

At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Ginegaw allegedly robbed the Applied Bank at the Four Season Shopping Center in Newark.

A little more than an hour later, a New Castle County detective saw a white Ford Ranger pickup truck that matched the description of the vehicle spotted at a previous robbery.

The detective followed the truck into the parking ot of the Division of Motor Vehicles on Airport Road and arrested Ginegaw.

He was arraigned and sent to prison for lack of $150,000 secured bail.

Ginegaw is charged in the following robberies:

  • June 19, 2010 at 1:05 p.m. Citizen's Bank inside of the Acme Market, 146 Fox Hunt Drive, (Fox Run Shopping Center), Bear, DE
  • July 23, 2010 at 5:35 p.m. Citizen's Bank inside of the Acme Market, 146 Fox Hunt Drive, (Fox Run Shopping Center), Bear, DE
  • September 17, 2010 at 12:35 p.m. Citizen's Bank inside of the Acme Market, 146 Fox Hunt Drive, (Fox Run Shopping Center), Bear, DE
  • September 20, 2010 at 12:35 p.m. Citizen's Bank inside of the Acme Market, 1 University Plaza (University Plaza Shopping Center), Newark, DE
  • September 22nd at 3:11 p.m. at Citizens bank inside Acme in the Prices Corner Shopping Center
  • September 23rd at 2:14 p.m. at Applied Bank in the Four Seasons Shopping Center
