NJ State Police sergeant cleared of allegation

TRENTON, N.J. - September 30, 2010

The Statehouse bureau of The Star-Ledger of Newark and The Record reports the judge found no credible evidence that Sgt. Christine Shallcross verbally disparaged Trooper Alexis Hayes during her training in 2005.

The judge also said there was no evidence Shallcross kissed Hayes after a graduation party or asked to see recruits' underwear.

The judge ordered Shallcross to serve an unpaid suspension for driving a State Police vehicle after drinking. Shallcross already drew a suspension for drawing on recruits' faces.

Her lawyer will seek to overturn the disciplinary charges.

Hayes also accused Lt. Thomas King of sexually assaulting. That criminal investigation was closed without charges filed.
