Police car involved in West Philadelphia crash

WEST PHILADELPHIA - October 4, 2010

The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 56th and Media Streets in West Philadelphia.

Authorities say the officers were responding to a call of a person with a gun when the accident occurred.

They were traveling eastbound on Media Street when a civilian car crashed into the police vehicle in the middle of the intersection, investigators said.

Both officers were transported to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

One officer was a male in his 30's and the second officer was a female of an unknown age.

The male officer sustained a bruised face and a cut to the left arm. The female officer also has a bruised face with pain to the knee and a headache.

A third victim, a 23-year-old civilian man, was also transported to HUP.

All three victims are in stable condition.
