Next time, call the police first

SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine (AP) - October 5, 2010

That's what authorities in Maine say a man should have done when found a hand grenade.

The man brought the grenade to the police station in Southwest Harbor.

Officials say the man told them he found the grenade among the belongings of his late brother.

The Bangor Daily News reports the man left the grenade in his truck when he went inside to talk to police.

The parking lot was blocked for three hours.

State troopers removed the grenade and will destroy it.

Authorities aren't sure whether it was live or not.
