The $75 million settlement with Titusville, N.J.-based Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., involves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the federal government.
The agreement announced Monday resolves allegations that the company promoted topiramate, an antiepileptic and migraine prevention drug marketed as Topamax 5/8, for uses not approved by the FDA, such as for bipolar disorder and drug and alcohol dependency.
