New Castle County Detectives arrested John Wittmer, 22, of Harmony Woods and charged him with two counts of rape in the fourth degree. At the time of the crime, Wittmer was 15 and the victim was seven.
The female, now 14, recently disclosed the sexual assault that happened in 2003 when she was staying with a babysitter in Newark, Delaware. Detectives linked Wittmer, who was living at the home at the time, to the crime after the victim was interviewed by a forensic expert at the Children's Advocacy Center and disclosed the assault.
Wittmer was arrested Monday and charged. He is free after posting bail.
